The National Mall has a lot of open lawn space with shaded areas - perfect for picnics. Food trucks line up some of the main cross streets like 7th Street NW & 14th Street SW.
Very cool sculpture garden of the National Gallery of Art. There is a cute cafe in the garden good for lunch or a quick coffee break.
You can easily spend more than a day in this large park filled with impressive monuments and world-class museums.
We visited by foot but it was a lot of walking. There is a shuttle bus that goes around the park stopping at all major sites. You can also bike or scooter around.
Supposedly one of the most popular museums in National Mall. Need to make a reservation in advance.
You can go to the top of this monument which has a great view of the whole park. Capacity is limited so need to make reservation weeks ahead.
A beautiful monument with a big fountain. This is probably my favorite monument in the whole park of National Mall.
The pictures don’t do it justice.
The reflection pool got its name because of the perfect reflection of the Washington monument in it when you stand on the east end of the pool.
Truly impressive flight museum. There is a real decommissioned space shuttle “ Discovery” on display. We also found a full-size X-wing model (Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker).
