Acropolis of Athens

Things to do in Athens | Greece

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. The word acropolis is from the Greek words ἄκρον and πόλις The term acropolis is generic and there are many other acropoleis in Greece. During ancient times it was known also more properly as Cecropia, after the legendary serpent-man, Cecrops, the supposed first Athenian king. (Wikipedia)

Traveler Notes

In Athens we took a bus to the Acropolis dated 437 BC. We took a virtual reality glasses and when you looked at the ruins you saw the way it was in 437 BC. Hit the door and go inside so very cool to see. We made a stop at the ancient colosseum. We ate Greek pizza and gelato. Played in Texas Holdem tournament with 8 men got second. Up gambling and listening to a very cool dueling piano duet they are awesome. Introduced to Greek liquor Ouzo. Bought 8 bottles for the men at home. Hope it gets there🥰

We had half a day in Athens before catching our connecting flight the next morning. The most famous site in Athens is undoubtedly Acropolis - the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of Democracy.
