Standing on the center island of the largest pool in Ujung Water Palace complex, Balai Gili is a royal home that combines remarkable architectural designs from both Balinese and European influences.
Less well known than its sibling palace - Tirta Gangga, Ujung Water Palace (Taman Ujung or Taman Sukasada) was built by the same Karangasem King, Gusti Bagus Jelantik. Ujung has been widely renovated since its near destruction in Mt. Agung’s eruption and presents a charming landscape of ponds, bridges, pagodas, pavilions, and statues.
