1st dog walk upon arrival. Checking out the neighborhood gorge trail. Lovely!
Cascadilla Gorge Trail connects downtown Ithaca with the Cornell University campus among one of the most picturesque gorges in the Finger Lakes Region. The Cascadilla Creek drops 400 feet past nine waterfalls of different sizes rangin from 8-feet to 80-feet tall. The water carves through ancient bedrock - shale, siltstone and sandstone - exposing sedimentary rocks that were deposited 400 million years ago.
The best access points to the trail are either the lower “trailhead” located at Treman Triangle Park in Ithaca off of Linn Street or the upper “trailhead” behind Cornell’s Schwartz Center for Theatre Arts on the Cornell campus. See trail map.
