As the center of Pisa's Piazza del Duomo (also known as Piazza dei Miracoli), Pisa Cathedral is a medieval Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. While the bell tower nearby, better known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, may have stolen the spotlight somewhat, the Pisa Cathedral Complex is exceptional in its own right, having been described by UNESCO as "an outstanding example of medieval Christian architecture."
