Coney Island

Things to do in Brooklyn | New York City | New York | United States

Coney Island is a peninsular neighborhood and entertainment area in the southwestern section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is bounded by Brighton Beach to its east, Lower New York Bay to the south and west, and Gravesend to the north, and includes the subsections of Sea Gate to its west and Brighton Beach to its east. Coney Island was formerly the westernmost of the Outer Barrier islands on the southern shore of Long Island, but in the early 20th century it became a peninsula, connected to the rest of Long Island by land fill. Traveler Notes

After enjoying the stunning views from the ‘Top of the Rock’ this morning, we took the D train out to Coney Island on Brooklyn’s coastline. We sunbathed on the beach for a while and went for a walk along the boardwalk to Brighton Beach before making our way back to Luna Park and it’s iconic Wonder Wheel. From there, we continued along the boardwalk past the landmark ‘Space Needle’ and down the Pat Auletta Steeplechase Pier before catching the train back to Manhattan.
