Things to do in Berlin | Germany

The flea market at Mauerpark is one of the biggest and the most popular open-air flea markets in Berlin. Every Sunday from 9am to 6pm, this public park in the Prenzlauer Berg district is filled by Berliners and tourists who come here for a treasure hunt. The market consists mostly of private sellers who offer second-handed items and vintage goods ranging from clothes, handbags, jewellery to vinyl revords, musical instruments, antique furnitures, and many more.

The flea market also has an impressive line up of food trucks offering both local and international delicacies. The other major attraction at the market is a free public karaoke event, the Bear Pit karaoke, that takes place at the park's amphitheatre at 3pm every Sunday in the summer months.

Traveler Notes

The flea market behind Mauerpark is quite a hit with both locals and tourists. It was a big market with a mix of sellers of used goods and antiques, local artists and craft maskers, and loads of food vendors.

We were short on time so skimmed through the whole market and headed straight to the Sunday "free karaoke" in Mauerpark. It was a round stone platform serving as a stage with ascalating stone stairs around serving as seats for a large crowd of audience ... the setup almost felt like one of those ancient amphitheater’s. We listened to a few songs ... literally anyone in the audience can go on the stage by raising your hand to volunteer. The singing level was quite mixed but the audience was very forgiving. They clap for everyone no matter how well you sing.
