Half Rabbit by Bordalo II is a giant rabbit sculpture made out of recycled materials. The sculpture is positioned on a building at the intersection of Rue Guilhereme Gomes Fernandes and Rue Dom Afonso III in Vila Nova de Gaia. The corner of the building folds the rabbit in two, with one half painted in colors and the other unpainted to expose the materials’ original colors. That's how the artwork got its name “Half Rabbit”.
The amazing 3D street art was brought to life by Portuguese artist Bordallo II who often creates animal art using repurposed materials. The excessive production and consumption of stuff, which results in the continuous production of “garbage” and consequently in the destruction of the Planet, are the central themes of the artist's production. “Half Rabbit” is a call for increased social awareness of ecological sustainability.
