Traveler Notes

Lake Lula Land Trust is a beautiful property in north Georgia on the cusp of Lookout Mountain that opens to the public with a limited amount of reservations on the first and last Saturday of each month. It features wooded trails, bubbling creeks and a large waterfall where you can wade in the water underneath and surrounding.

This hike was a combo of full and partial trails I mapped out for the day. It began on the access road to Ford Trail, North Creek Trail, to Lula Falls, then partially on the Bluff Trail for gorgeous overlook views, veering onto part of Jedi Trail onto Ovenbird Trail, a short “we got lost” detour double back, then passing the Nature Loop back to the entrance access road and eventually, our car.

Our canine companion Holden was a champ. He went up and down the rocks like a rock star and I think he had a blast! He was definitely tuckered out at the end of the day. Phil however was tuckered out halfway and I am going to limit to no more than three mile hikes from now on (LOL) but we still had a great time.

I will say the map and the trail markers don’t always match up and made it difficult to navigate in some parts, which of course I got blamed for ;) Also I wish that there were more shaded spots at the bottom of the waterfall, but it’s Mother Earth in its original beauty so what can you do? The water felt phenomenal though, especially after a strenuous hike down - cooling off was on point. Also the views on the way back via Bluff Trail were pretty amazing.
