Things to do in Chicago | Illinois | United States

Located in the Loop community area of Chicago, Millennium Park is a public park intended to celebrate the third millennium and a variety of public art.  The park is a prominent civic center near the city's Lake Michigan shoreline that covers a 24.5-acre (99,000 m2) section of northwestern Grant Park. The park has received many awards for its accessibility and green design. Millennium Park has free admission, and features the Cloud Gate, the Crown Fountain, Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Lurie Garden, and various other attractions.

As of 2009, Millennium Park trailed only Navy Pier as a Chicago tourist attraction and by 2017 it had become the number one tourist attraction in the Midwestern United States. In 2015, the park also became the location of the city's annual Christmas tree lighting.  (Wikipedia)

Traveler Notes

Lots of walking today. After Willis tower we headed over to Soldier field, then Buckingham fountain and Millennium Park. Just our luck all the fountains were off as they were getting them ready for the winter. But we were able to see the bean.

We probably walked about 10 miles today. Had to stop at Magnolia bakery for a chocolate cupcake and banana pudding.

Headed through Chicago so stopped for supper.

We’re about 8 hrs in of the last stretch home. After we are at miller’s pub, right under the Chicago L, we decided checking out ‘the bean’ would be awesome so that’s what we did. It was pretty cool and the buildings in the city were pretty cool too

We never made it officially to Millennium Park but we’re able to capture a picture on our walk by. The lineup was too long and we had to make it back to the hotel to get ready for Chicago White Sox’s game that night.
