Y’all, I did it. I said goodbye to my love and hopped in the car with my bosses. Steve is the owner and first travelled to Cairo in 1976. He said he’s been 500 times but I’m sure he stopped counting sometime in the 80s. And Angie went to Egypt for the first time last year. This morning, they were practicing common Arabic greetings. I am grateful to have been taking lessons and I have my own greetings practiced. It was really hard to leave by myself. There were many tears. My coworkers also like to arrive right on time so my anxiety about getting through security in time was heightened. Also, Steve was trying to change our seats for the German airline (to Cairo) because he is insisting that I sit in a window seat. I guess you can see the pyramids flying into Cairo. But it was less than 40 minutes to board and we hadn’t even gone through security. I was thinking “bro, let’s just handle this in Frankfurt” but whatever.. They had Clear so I was alone in the long line. I made it just in time for boarding. I didn’t get to fill my water bottle but this flight has sparkly water. I’m still not hungry (sorry Dave I didn’t eat all of my breakfast).
I did end up eating when we got off the plane at the fancy Polaris lounge in Newark.
