Located in the middle of District 1, Nguyen Hue Street is the biggest street of Ho Chi Minh City. The street is known for a few beautiful French colonial buildings like the People’s Comittee, the Rex Hotel and a luxury shopping mall. In front of the People’s Committee you can find a statue of Uncle Ho Chi Minh and a fountain show by night. Despite its name, Nguyen Hue Walking Street is only pedestrian-only on Saturdays and Sundays evenings when vehicles are prevented from entering. On those weekend nights, the street becomes lively with many street shows and vendors.
