The birth place of the famous Portuguese Natas
Almost 200 years old, Pastéis de Belém is a popular bakery situated in the Belém neighbourhood of Lisbon. The bakery is best known for being the first business to begin selling pastel de nata (Portugese egg tart) commercially based on an ancient and secret recipe from the monks of Jerónimos Monastery. Today, Pastéis de Belém sells at least 20,000 natas per day and it's also one of Lisbon's most popular tourist attractions. It is open every day of the year from 8 am to 11 pm. To avoid long lines, it's best to visit early in the morning when it just opens.
