Plaza d'Espanya is one of Barcelona's most important squares, built on the occasion of the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, held at the foot of Montjuïc. This plaza is situated just out of the centre of town, where many of the main roads such as Gran Via and Paral.lel intersect. It is also home to Barcelona's old bull-fighting ring which has now been converted into the Las Arenas de Barcelona commercial centre.
