Located in the Pingxi, Shifen Old Streets is a collection of lanes and alleys in and around the Shifen railway station area. Old railroad tracks, originally built for transporting coal during the Japanese era, still run through the village. Today the area has become a popular tourist attraction and marketplace with many shops and restaurants lining up alongside the railway tracks. It is also a popular spot to fire up and launch a sky lantern (an old tradition for good luck in return) which costs around 150 TWD (~$5 USD).
