First stop was Sandstone Falls. We have been here before, but a nice stop on our way up. Got to stretch our legs and see a little wildlife.
Drove on up to the bridge. Weather was great with a clear view. It is impressive to see up close. Getting hungry now.
I read about this place and had to try it. It was so worth it. It was once a church that was sold To the owner in 2000. She opened the cafe, and it is now the center of the community. We all got different meals and they were all terrific. They have a small gift shop upstairs, and of course I had to get a T-shirt.
Back to the bridge. Near the bridge is a narrow, mostly one-way road that leads down to the river, and the original bridge to cross the river. From here it is easy To watch kayakers and rafters floating they river. I am going to have to do that eventually. Before the highway and arch bridge, this narrow road and bridge were the only way to cross the river. Not sure how cars were able to pass each other.
Last stop of the day on the way home was Tamarack. This stop was for me. I have driven past this many times and never stopped. It is a marketplace for local artisans to show and sell their creations. They have an art gallery, offer classes in glass blowing, and you can grab a bite to eat. With this stop done, it is time to head home.
