Classic Costa Rican market, with the original way of making Costa Rican coffee
Every town has a park with a church in front in the center, but this town was especially cute
Another small town along the drive ft a quintessential American store
Amazing soda restaurant. We learned sodas are the typical small restaurant, every one was unique but similar and they had the best foods.
This airbnb had an incredible view and was attached to an all glass restaurant. The wind was wild
This waterfall was slightly acidic so the pools that formed off it were super vibrant in color. It was a mud slide getting down to it but absolutely worth it. It had a hummingbird garden with the most amazing hummingbirds I’ve ever seen
Another church and park but this one had a crazy manicured garden
First meal in La fortuna, super touristy change up from the tiny mountain towns we had driven through
Another day, another stunning waterfall
Animals!! Including a baby toucan up in the tree
Rainy hike alongside the volcano, including more blurry pictures of animals. And amazing trees
Another part of the National park, we had to go down a crazy dirt road in the dark but it was worth it! There were signs all over for crocs
This restaurant had a crazy line but the owners gave us wine and snacks in line so we were convinced to stay. The food was phenomenal and the vibes were great
The drive to Monte verde was both beautiful and stressful. You cross over the pacific side to the Atlantic side so the weather is completely different. On the ridge line we had clouds and relentless wind and rain but on the Atlantic side it was blue sky and gorgeous
2 woman restaurant with the most delicious burritos
Zip lining!!!! A dream come true. We got to go over the canopy, the longest zipline was over 3000ft.
The famous hanging bridges
One of my favorite airbnbs I’ve stayed in, it had gorgeous views into the forest
Sunset dinner, amazing food, amazing drinks and amazing colors. Named for the ficus tree which is pretty dope
Another set of very blurry pictures of wildlife, the night walk was super fun we got to see a cousin of the scorpion, a really pretty bird called a blue crested, mud, mutt, a pit viper, baby snake, and rainforest tree, frog, and a sleeping toucan which was the absolute highlight!!!
Super cool restaurant that was built around a tree, but while we were there, the power went off a few times due to wind
Delicious soda restaurant that was attached to a art cooperative where local women could sell their crafts
More stunning, rolling Mountain views
The drive back to drop off the rental car in Liberia looked nothing like the rest of the country. It looked like grassland plains. When we got on the shuttle to take us to Tamarindo, they showed up with an entire 25 passenger van just for the two of us 😂
Part two of the vacation was completely different scenery and activities, a lot of laying on the beach and by the pool
Favorite restaurant in tamarindo! We went twice
Surfing was a blast, our instructor was super helpful in pointing out the waves for us and we all ended up doing pretty well
A great day on the boat, swimming and snorkeling and lounging
Sunset on aforementioned boat. It was a stunner
Note: mahi mahi is to die for here
Ended the trip with a fruit party (papaya and pineapple not shown)
