It was last day of Yura’s and Olga ‘s vacation. So olga left us in the morning and Yura should leave us in the evening. It was a little pitty to say goodbye, you realise that something very wonderful is going to end and reborn in memories... but i wished to prolong that feeling and that trip. But sometimes it is better to finish something in advance, to leave a little hunger for the impressions, so that you dream about next adventure stronger... and as a result repeat it quicker.
it was the end of our first mission. In Athens our next mission was going to start in couple of days - to pass ISSA courses, so that Andrew could be an ISSA instructor.
We stayed for one night in a wonderful Marina of Kerkyra, but it was too expensive to leave the boat for a longer period. So the owner of the boat told us to find cheaper marine..
We had a very tasty breakfast, huge waffles and coffee, and began to sail looking for cheaper marine.
It was a hard task. Everything wasnt available, no more free places. we sailing and sailing from one marine to another but nothing...
Finally we found one, there were some free places and it was strange and suspiciously. But we were exhausted and decided to moor. It was a difficult task, waters were waving, the stream was hard, as well as wind. We had just moored and an unknown man came, an owner of a boat, told us that we shouldnt stay here for a long time, as this side of a bank was known for strong winds, that brought huge waves. And that a cyclone were coming, thats why this marine was empty and all others were too fullfilled, everyone tried to keep their boats in safety. many thanks to that kind man.
Had to look for another marine.
In the end we moored to the bank of a town, where we were the only one sailing boat. Was it alowed? Later when we had already been in Athens we were called by local boatswain and told that not. but at that time we didnt find anybody or anything that could tell us about that. No electricity, no water, and to get to the land we had to jump on the other fishing boat. The owner of the boat agreed to leave the boat there for some days. Later another skipper should sail this boat to Turkey, but it is not our story.
In the evening we said goodbye to Yura, and he went to the airport, we went to buy tickets for tomorrow bus and liner, to get to Athens. while doing all that we had a great walk along the city.
Wonderful town!! Strongly recommend. Beautiful streets, many cafes, souvenir shops and so on
We were going to Athens.
The man from strange marine was right - in the morning rain, strong wind, lightenings, thunders came. Like all Greece Gods awoke from a deep sleep.
By bus, then by liner, them by taxi we got to our hotel in Athens.
BIG BED... Shower... and no waving, calm... something we dreamt about long time... The hotel was good, clean comfortable and the price was nice. We stayed there for 2 days.
breakfast, lunch, dinner, all was there. Very tasty and not expensive.
I didnt enjoy Athens, too dirty, too many people, to little time to feel the vibes. But for sure I will give it another chance next time
Check in a new boat called Promise. It took us a half of the day... there were many people, so many, that there were no free place to sit. Charter company did their best, but still it was difficult to them to be on time as there was a huge supply for boats... While waiting we were Greeting to all members of our new team, talking, discussing plans, telling stories...
after check in - Shopping for food and water. Preparing the boat for the trip for the next morning.
I begin to feel myself tired... there were first calls i didn’t notice trying to ignore my tiredness.
By the way the boat was awesome. very comfortable, clean and modern 👌🏻 you can see it on pics. sails and other technique equipment was also in right order and condition
Fast breakfast, and then sailing all day long. There was a mixed team pf people from different countries : Poland, Israel, Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan. All day communicated with each other, cooked on board, and finally came to Poros. we anchored nearby the bank. We had a wonderful evening party there, but i preferred to leave the party very early and went to the boat and have some rest
Striking day for me.
i felt myself quiet well but a little bit tired, we were coming to another bank of Poros. And after WC i understood that women’s days were there. But they shouldnt be, as you remember ... i was scared, something wrong was going on, we were somewhere far from good emergency, i didnt know what to do. I called my doctor, she said to buy some special pills and keep myself most of the time laying in bed.. She said that there is no need to come back home immediatly as if it should be good, it should... so me and Andrew went to buy pills to a drug shop. And i was praying they would sell us them, as those pills could be sold only with a prescription. But they sold us 2 packs without it! thank God! That evening and next day i didnt take any photos, didnt walk, didnt communicate much... to the end of our trip most of the time i was in the cabin.. i think our team thought that i was strange and not really friendly. We didnt tell them the reason... i didnt want too much attention. Sorry guys) i would love to share a glass of wine with you, having fun and spend more time outside) but....
The previous day i didnt take any photos, as was nervous about my health. I remember that we anchored somewhere near the bay.. i dont like stay for night anchoring, yea h it saves money, but doenst save your good feelings, as you cant sleep well because of many different noises... what is more we didnt step on land for a day, and in my condition it wasnt very good. but the decision was made by the skipppers... not by us...okay...
next day we came to Methana and moored in local marine. there were lots of boats and all they were organized by ISSA, so we were all together. we walked along that town. No tourists at all.. very quiet... but i was happy to be on land.. We had dinner in a local cafe, dishes from fresh fish were delicious.
then we had a small meeting with all the members of sailing trip. The night was calm, i felt myself good. And was ready to go home, i understood that travelling with your team is better, then with unknown people with different lifestyle. At least it is difficult to do when you are in one boat, so you cant just go somewhere to have a rest from other people) anyway, the goal was to pass ISSA, not to have fun
Sailing sailing sailing.
Small stop for swimming and then sailing again
moored in loca marina of Aigina
It was last day of our sailing trip.
Breakfast on the boat. Everything was good until huge liner came and created such a wave, that our moored boat touched the concrete and damaged a fender...
we decided to sail away...
So our last point is the point where we started. Packing stuff, cleaning, check out..
Last day in Greece. Athens. It was the place where all tourists concetrated... too overcrowed , especially after almost free of tourists places where we had been before...
But this time i liked Athens, with its huge history, many sightseeings, cafes and of course cats.❤️
The end of our adventure Italy & Greece 2019.
