Madi had a 30 hour layover in Nola during spring break! We made the most of the day and saw heard and tasted so much that New Orleans had to offer.
Started the morning with a walk to Cafe du Monde. The magnolia flowers were JUST about to bloom.
Yes, the beignets are incredible. Yes it’s worth the wait in line. We listened to jazz musicians on the street as we waited to be covered in powdered sugar.
We explored parts of the French Market and saw the St Louis Cathedral.
We got a hurricane on Bourbon at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop - oldest bar in the US!
We split a grilled shrimp Poboy - it was pretty good! Tbh not my favorite but I’m sure there are better places to get them. This is the place we found on Bourbon near Lafitte’s.
Praline’s and hurricanes in the park and by the Mississippi
This vintage store was a DREAM wow loved it so much
Our uber driver recommended this place. We got the sampler of gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice - classics of New Orleans. And a salad, because we needed some greens.
We found this night artist’s market which was so cool! I got Zack a glitter gloss for his bday and the money went towards the New Orleans women’s center. The Spotted Cat was definitely on our list because its one of the oldest and most iconic jazz clubs in Nola. We stayed for a half hour, then waited for our uber while listening to a band on the street. They were really young musicians and honestly so good and fun.
