We hiked all the way from our hotel up the mountain and back.
Didn’t take cable car as it was too touristy.
Knattenveien 7, was the starting point of the hike up the mountain.
On the way we stopped at a coffee shop called
Total trip was about 12km
Fish market in Bergen
Ate at Cornelius restaurant where a boat picked us up right across from the Radison Blu to take us to the island.
We had a lovely table on the water and enjoyed a 5 course meal.
The entire experience took 5 hours.
Bill was $376.
This was the cabin we stayed in Undredal which is just outside alien. Lovely stay with the goats just outside.
Amazing day trip taking the Flamsbana train up the mountain then doing a 3km hike and 17.5km cycle down the valley back into Flåm.
The most beautiful cycle ever
Booked with Norway’s best and the day trip cost about $180 for both of us,
Ended with a hot choc at livets Hygge
Ended the day driving into the town of Undredal where we had a drink at Undredal Brygge
We were lucky enough to catch the rainbow over the Fjord at the perfect time
En Route to Loen, we by chance found this glacier in the mountain. We stopped to take a drone video and ended up having coffee and soup at the restaurant.
Epic stay at this 5 star restaurant. What a treat.
We also did a buffet dinner which was awesome.
Lovely views over the Loen Fjord
Stryn is beautiful as the river meanders through the town. We stopped there for a few hours to take drone videos and have dinner at the local sushi restaurant called Bento Yumi.
We could easily live here - it is more of a small town with lots of shops and businesses
In Loen, we took the Skylift up the mountain which was a steep cable car ride up. The top was really cold and we didn’t prepare well enough as we could have hiked some great routes in the area.
Instead, we climbed up a little to get some pics and then went down to the coffee shop to have a hot chocolate.
Lovely little town really close to Loen on the Oldevatnet Fjord.
There are some cute shops there such as Skogstad which is a local outdoor clothing brand.
I bought awesome hiking pants there!
We drove through Hallesylt to catch the ferry to Geiranger. We went on this ferry for about $100 (incl the car) and it took an hour to get to Geiranger.
The ferry took us through the most beautiful fjord in Norway past Skagefla and seven sisters waterfall. It had an onboard restaurant where you could get coffee. We dressed warm so that we could sit on the top deck to enjoy the views.
This was more than sufficient to see the entire fjord instead of doing a boat tour from Geiranger.
Visiting this farm was very high up on my bucket list.
I took a small boat from Geiranger to get to the bottom of the hiking route. I left Geiranger at 4pm and returned by 6pm which was more than enough time.
I climbed up 500m to the top which was a tough hike and required proper shoes. It’s very steep and Chris didn’t want to go as he is afraid of heights.
I flew the drone there and got some amazing footage as the weather was perfect.
An alternative to climbing up and down is to walk to or from Homlung Campsite. The hike is apparently about 5km to Skagefla and a lot of people come back this way instead of taking a round trip boat.In Geiranger we stayed at Grande Fyord hotel for 1 night. We had a lovely room on the Fjord and enjoyed an amazing dinner and breakfast at the hotels restaurant.
The best waffel I ever tasted
We stopped at this coffee shop on the way to Trollstigen and then realized our hotel was across the road so we ended up going for lunch as well. It was great we had deer stew.
The coffee shop has glass windows over looking the waterfalls - it’s beautiful.
Trollstigen was also a bucket list drone spot and we were lucky to not have heavy rain here. The drive on the way there is beautiful through the farm lands and all of a sudden becomes very rocky terrain. It’s up in the mountain and there was snow sheets everywhere - it was about 6 degrees.
The drive was slightly scary as the road is not big enough for 2 cars to pass but totally doable.
We were blown away with how beautiful this place was.
An amazing hotel recommended to us by a friend. This hotel is not on any mainstream booking website. The rooms all overlook the beautiful Forrest and river landscape and have no curtains. We were here on the day of the French open final so we watched it on the laptop. We also enjoyed the bathhouse which had a sauna and we swam in the freezing cold river and felt super refreshed after. It gets booked really quickly so needs to be booked in advance - it’s a half board experience and dinner is enjoyed at a long table with all the other guests. We met lovely people from Norway, Minnesota and Indonesia at the dinner.
Visited Alesund for 1 night and we found there was not a lot to do and see here except for the viewpoint.
The Byrampen Viewpoint was pretty though
Lovely little town but not a lot to do besides the viewpoint.
The hotel we stayed in (Scandic Parken) was average.
Spent two nights in Oslo.
Had dinner at the Lofoten Fish restaurant at the Aker Brygge waterfront. It was excellent.
The following night we also drove up to frognerseteren restaurant and drove past the ski jump. Lovely dinner and wine there too.
Lovely restaurant cost about $430 for 4 people.
Amazing view over Oslo.
Once we got back to the hotel after dinner, I realized I didn’t have my handbag with me so we had to Uber back!!!!
