Lunch stop in Florence, SC on our drive from Raleigh to Hilton Head Island. We asked for an outside table as it was crowded inside and no one was wearing masks.
We rented a nicely decorated 2-bed / 2-bath condo in a large resort complex (through Airbnb). The living area is open and bright but bedrooms are on the smaller side.
The complex is big so even though it says oceanfront, our unit is about 5-minute drive to the beach.
The sand is really fine on the island. It could get annoying at times as it’s really difficult get them off your body or out of your bags
Saw 5 black cats 🐈⬛ in front of the restaurant when we were leaving
The community we stayed in has a big tennis / pickle ball center that offers lots of daily classes.
Another nice beach day with lunch at the resort cafe right on beach.
A vibrant marina area with a lighthouse, a few shops and restaurants.
We decided to start our walk from Forsyth Park and end in East River Street. That pretty much covers the whole historic downtown area.
Modern cafe in the center of the park. Good place to stop for lunch or coffee.
Savannah is a city of squares. This is the first of many we encountered in the historic downtown area. They are all very charming.
We ended up taking one of the popular trolley tours after having already explored the downtown area on foot. We felt that walking was actually the better way to experience this city.
The Grey is a modern restaurant housed in the old Greyhound bus terminal. We got the tasting menu … some of the dishes were pretty good but there were a few disappointing ones too.
