With the rush of mom and dad working to get me to the airport on time, we successfully made it. After checking a bag, we finally found TSA pre-check and thank goodness for it. I said goodbye to mom and dad and off I went. I had to walk the entire length of the terminal with a bag that weighed at least 25lbs, my shoulder was sore. I got seated on the plane and had no one in the seat next to me, until a lady placed her cat there. Ugh. I denied dinner, which in the long run was good because lots of people got sick on it. I proceeded to watch Blind Side, Cars 3, and Going In Style. There’s nothing like no sleep living. The staff then brought breakfast, pictured above. I did eat it and enjoyed a morning hot tea. I do not understand why people put half and half in there’s. I was not brave enough to try even though it was Prairie Farms. We got resituated and waited to land. We have now arrived in Stockholm, Sweden!
We have now arrived in Stockholm. I exited the airplane and walked through the vacant glass walls in order to find customs. I waited in line for over an hour due to the EU passport holders having precedent. While waiting in line I met a nice couple from Utah who were here for a cruise. They were very nice, the husband was a family doctor, and there kids are PAs. I made it through customs and collected my checked bag. I then went to find the DIS staff. They checked me in, gave me a train pass, and took a group of us down to the train. I started talking to the other students while waiting and during the train ride. We arrived at central station from Atlanta and were met with more DIS staff. They then divided us by our housing and flagged taxis to take us there. We arrived at housing, and got our keys and train passes. My roommate Lesia and I unpacked and then took a three hour nap. We got up to go to our check in chore meeting. Once the meeting was over we walked to the mall. The mall has stores, food, and the grocery store. Make sure you bring you own bag! We stopped for dinner and ordered what might be good. We were unable to really read cause there is no English translation. We both loved our dinner and finished it with gelato for desert. Overall, a very nice first day!
