We just arrived at the Salt Lake City Airport! Got some great photos from the plane! Landing was a bit rough but it’s kinda cool to feel the plane go down and hit the ground. Although it made me motion sick 🤢. Take off was cooler though in my opinion because you can feel the plane accelerate really fast. I bet the pilots have fun with that when their inner kid gets to them.
When we got into the airport we got to ride one of the fun flat moving things (I have no idea what they’re called). Then we got some foodies at a TOTALLY UNIQUE fast food place! (Definitely don’t have a Burger King at home 😉😂) I’ve decided soda tastes better on the ground.
Boarding onto our next flight soon! See you in Washington D.C.!
WE MADE IT! We are officially in DC! This plane was a lot bigger but somehow managed to have smaller seating. (Efficiency of transportation I guess) The plane had these cool little “tv’s” in front of each seat that we could watch our flight progress and stats in route. I think that’s pretty interesting. Meanwhile, we of course had to eat some cute mini Doritos. They’re better when they’re mini fyi 😂. Since this was a longer flight, I had plenty of time to read, get some pretty cool sunset pictures, obviously played mini uno! The flight attendant thought they were funny.
After we arrived at the airport we had no clue where to go so we had to ask people just a few times to lead us in the right direction. lol. This airport had a cool light bridge that we went over and was the biggest airport out of the three we stopped in today.
We went to Arlington National Cemetery! It was really shocking how many graves they have there! And they’re even expanding. They said they have about 30 more each day except on holidays and Sundays. That’s a lot of graves every year! All the graves are placed in a very specific way so that from any angle they look like soldiers standing in formation. I think that’s pretty cool and a lot of work. Haha. And there was a beautiful view of Washington D.C. from right in front of the Arlington House! After that we went to an authentic restaurant to try Tonkotsu ramen and eel for the first time. The ramen was good; the eel was okay. It tasted like chewy chicken.
Today we went to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum! It was really cool to see all the planes and learn a little bit about a few of them! There was an awesome viewpoint at the very top that I got some cool pictures from. We even got to see the huge garage where they repair and work on the aircraft. They said there were about 192 planes for show and that they were all donated which is cool. I didn’t get a picture but there was also the Worlds Smallest Biplane there that made it in the Guinness World Records in 2002! It was really tiny and cute! Lol.
Today we walked six miles! We visited the White House, Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument!! On our walk we passed by a lot of huge elegant buildings including a very famous hotel, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the IRS, and many many food trucks. Lol. It was really awesome to be so close up to all these very important, famous structures!
Annnd the last picture is when Ethan was standing off the edge of the Reflecting Pool and could’ve fallen in. 😅
Next stop was the National American History Museum! This was a really cool museum because it had a a ton of original inventions and why they got created and who created them! A lot of basic things that we use today such as sticky notes, electronics, McDonald’s nugget to-go boxes, little kids toys, money, and so on. There was a section for basically anything. It was awesome!
Last stop before home was the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History! This museum had a ton of cool dinosaur skeletons and fossils! There was also a small aquarium that had Dory. 😂 I thought it was cool we could see in one of the back rooms of how they dig out the fossils and draw them and stuff. One of my favorite things there was looking at all the pretty crystals and gems!
Today we just chilled at home so I wrote some Washington D.C. Postcards for some peeps! (Definitely didn’t address them like an envelope so I have little room to write… 😅🫣)
Today was another chill day. My cousin and I had fun taking silly pictures! And I had some much-needed coffee lol. My aunt and I also started a new puzzle to go in the kids room once it’s finished!
We tried some authentic Chinese food including soup dumplings, pork buns, and Yibin dry spice noodles! I thought everything was pretty good!
Today I made some delicious Pumpkin bread! It was really good! Then we went to the park where there was a big sandpit so I dug I big hole. Idk why lol, it was fun tho. And to finish off the day we did a campfire with s’mores! I made a perfect one.
Today we saw and went in the Atlantic Ocean!! It was so pretty and not cold at all compared to the Pacific. The sand looked like brown sugar and had a ton of cool rocks in it. Ethan and I dug a hug hole for absolutely no reason and it was up past my knees! We ended the day with a nice fire and S’mores!
