Weltmuseum - 책거리 Chaekgeori Our shelves Our selves
In Korea, chaekgeori (Korean: 책거리, meaning "books and things") refers to a painted arrangement of books, bookshelves, and trinkets. This type of painting has its origins in the Chinese tradition of collecting items such as the writings of Confucius, scrolls adorned with calligraphy or paintings, ancient ritual vessels and ornaments—and the high regard they were held in high regard. Flowers and animals such as butterflies, mandarin ducks, carp, cranes, and deer, as well as floral patterns such as lotus, peony, chrysanthemum, peach, pomegranate, melon, and bergamot (also known as "bergamot") are also popular with Chinese collectors. These motives express positive desires for health, happiness, wealth, and freedom from want. But their depictions are often also playful, inviting the viewer to seek out and identify them within the paintings.
