Dave picked up ‘Gordi’ the car from south vancouver, and a car seat purchased on facebay on his way back! He managed to pack everything into the Chevrolet Malibu and we left Concord Arc behind. We stopped off at Shannon falls in Squamish on our way and walked through the forest to the gondola. Orla had her snooze in the car as we finished our journey to whistler.
Stopped off at Alta lake on our way to the apartment, very chilly but dry! Walked out on the pontoon and played in the park.
Stayed at a beautiful apartment in northstar complex next to the North part of the village, near the play park and DQ! Had a drink at the brewhouse on the Olympic square whilst the kids ate their dinner and watched the train move around the top.
Our trip up blackcomb mountain to see snow! The gondola opened at 10:45. We walked over from whistler village via the play park and loved going up and up. Such excitement with the snow at the top and snowball fights, snow angels, footprint making. It even snowed whilst we were up there. Stopped at the top for a drink and snack then made our way down and walked to lost lake along the path whilst Orla had her nap in the buggy.
Today was a wet and rainy day so we played indoors and got our waterproofs on for a park play and visited the library where we picked up some free books! Whilst Orla slept Freddie and I went to the supermarket to stock up!
Then a nice meal in Carumba in the village with cocktails and garlic-A great day! We couldn’t do the peak to peak as not open until next week!
Our last day in Whistler and mine and the kids first solo car journey and a drive 25minutes up the road to Pemberton, great bike track with glorious views and some sunshine! Walked over the railway line to visit the ‘ranch’ style town and grab a coffee and snack then back to Alpha lake in Whistler for lunch then home for nap time.
Whilst Orla slept and daddy worked Freddie and I went on a bike ride around the village and to the bmx track which he loved.
Freddie loving his massive bed whilst we snuggled on the sofa bed!(Orla slept in her cot in the porch).
A final few pictures around whistler before a trip to Abbotsford.
After leaving the backpack carrier in Squamish for the weekend we were forced to stop off and as the sun was shining we thought we’d ride to the top despite Dave having to work so he dropped us off and the kids and so went to the top. Quite clear with snow still on the ground. We have a walk around on the trails at the top and stopped for our lunch on a bench.
We drove for Orla’s nap and arrived in Abbotsford at Katie, Leonard and Tristan’s house at 3:45. A massive basement apartment in a slightly Truman show style estate.
A trip to Eco dairy which was unfortunately shut for school visit but we visited the animals, eco crops and farm shop instead. Then we went to mill lake for a wander and park play. Went back for Orla’s nap and went upstairs to play with Tristian after school.
A wet wet day so soft play, very much less busy than UK ones! Play Abby in Abbotsford.
Then after Orla’s nap we went to eco dairy this time to see inside-it was great feeding the cows and playing in the interactive section and learning about the robot milker and how milk is produced!
Katie, Leonard and Tristian went camping this afternoon so we made the most of having the whole house. The kids played with the toys, we ate dinner upstairs and sat outside in the sunshine……finally!
A beautiful sunny day so a walk/cycle/park crawl around the lake. A play in the mud and a bank holiday for locals. A quick stop at the liquor store on the way back as Daddy finishes work for 1 month today 🤗
Back home for nap, play and Freddie helping daddy with his last few bits before fizz and crisps on the deck before dinner!
The first day of our whole family holiday and the sun is shining. Just us and Gordy driving down the Fraser valley! A stop at Anita’s bread and coffee in Chilliwack for a take away and onto Cultus lake provincial park. A lovely play on the beach, walk onto the jetty, walk around part of the lake and obligatory play in the park!
A stop for lunch at farmhouse brewing in Chilliwack which was lovely but a slightly hungry Freddie and tired Orla. After pizza and ploughman’s a buggy nap for Orla, mini golf for Freddie, beer tasting for Dave and sunbathing for me we were all replenished and headed back for BBQ tea and drinks on the deck with Leonard and Katie.
Another sunny day and a trip for all of us to Fraser valley park, great views over mount baker in the states and a lovely walk around the trails followed by ice creams before heading back to Katie and Leonard’s for a play, pizza and packing before our real adventure starts in the morning.
